Gardesana Blockage Strains Lake Connections and Local Schools
The blocked Gardesana may have overshadowed the difficulties faced by those traveling for work to Tremosine or Limone from the south. Or the “efforts” of residents from these municipalities who need to move elsewhere.
Difficulties and Requests for Intervention
Attention to the issue is brought back by Stella Melzani, the school principal of Gargnano, who is responsible for the elementary schools of the upper lake, as well as the state kindergartens, including the one in Limone. Melzani calls for the restoration of lake connections between Campione and Limone: a request also forwarded to Battista Martinelli, the mayor of Limone, to have him advocate with Navigarda.
The elementary and kindergarten teachers who travel up the lake from the south are many and are facing difficulties. “The opening hours of the junction route for Tremosine-Limone, which are difficult to respect — says the principal — have already forced us to adopt highly flexible organizational solutions for the kindergarten, with reduced hours on some days and make-up days on others.
Now that the only route available at fixed times is the one to Tremosine, the situation is even more challenging.” “I hope that the tenured teachers will ‘hold on’ — adds Melzani — because finding substitutes willing to work under these traffic conditions is no easy task.”
