Gardesana Ovest Traffic Reopens After Landslide Repairs on Lake Garda

On the troubled Gardesana Ovest, at the Forbisicle location, green light was given for traffic on March 2nd. After an exhausting Lent, the escarpment between Gargnano and Campione has been secured.

Until Friday, March 2nd, the section was closed from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM and from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Passage is free on Saturdays and holidays.

At Nanzel, south of Limone, early March saw a return to semi-normal conditions with alternating one-way traffic.

Traffic management and ongoing works

In the meantime, traffic lights have been operational from 7:15 AM to 8:15 AM, from 12 PM to 1 PM, and from 5 PM to 8 PM on weekdays; from 2 PM to 8 PM on Saturdays; and from 8 AM to 8 PM on Sundays and holidays.

The situation regarding the desired restoration of the Limone-Riva road axis, washed away by the landslide on December 21st, remains unresolved.

Preparatory works and new projects

Meanwhile, preparatory works for the Monte Rocchetta section have begun, contracted to the companies Collini and Oberosler.

The tunnel, with a cost of seventy-five billion lire already allocated, will be completed in a record time of one hundred fifty days.

The progress of the tunnel will be about eighteen meters per day, six meters each for the three work sites, as the mountain will be drilled from the center and both ends to save time and ensure completion by July 30th.
