Gardone Event Highlights: D’Annunzio, Local Flavors, and Historical Exhibits
On the occasion of the ten days dedicated to Gabriele D’Annunzio, the lakeside promenade of Gardone was transformed into a green space. A nursery from Lonato set up in the three squares a garden consisting of grass, flowering shrubs, and herbs.
Today, from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM, these corners will host five special installations dedicated to the typical products of the Brescia Riviera: wine, oil, lemon, cheese, and fish. These «flavors» will be showcased through the display of historical objects useful for their cultivation and processing: old barrels, antique carts for transporting grapes and lemons, lemon displays, grape crushers, a fisherman’s boat, and fishing nets.
Exhibitions and Tastings
Each scene will be completed with a banquet table arranged in D’Annunzio style, where visitors can taste red, white, or chiaretto wines, extra virgin olive oil, Tremosine cheeses, fried fish, gelato, lemon desserts, and cedro liqueur. The tasting pass costs 15,000 lire. It can be purchased at public venues and shops in the town center (along with a complimentary glass from the event).
The event, organized by the municipality and the Associazione GardoneEuropa, is held in collaboration with «La strada dei vini bresciani del Garda», which helped acquire the historical objects and many of the products on display. The Parco dell’Alto Lago, the Community, and private supporters also provided significant assistance.
Memorial and Participations
In the afternoon, the thirty cars that undertook the raid to Vienna will return, commemorating the flight of the Vate. In the evening, the pilots will participate in the gala lunch at the Savoy.
Tomorrow, Sunday, at the conclusion of the event, students of the Istituto alberghiero «Caterina de’ Medici», guided by their culinary teachers, will prepare a lakeside lunch featuring dishes cooked according to D’Annunzio’s recipes. Those wishing to participate must reserve their place at the table by purchasing the menu, sold for 45,000 lire, at Gardone’s venues.
In case of bad weather, both tastings and the lunch will be served indoors at bars, restaurants, etc., along the lakeside promenade.
