Despite the steep terrain of Gardone Riviera, the administration has implemented alternative pathways to the existing staircases, thus enabling easy access for individuals with electric wheelchairs. Malcesine, which has received confirmation of the Lilac Flag for the second consecutive year, has been commended for initiatives that make services accessible to all, including those with visual and hearing impairments, thanks to the use of innovative technologies.
The Lilac Flag, established in 2012, certifies the efforts of municipalities in removing obstacles for people with disabilities through structural and design interventions. Common actions include the elimination of architectural barriers, enhancement of accessible transportation, and adapted signage. Recently, Sirmione and Limone sul Garda have also received this prestigious recognition due to targeted projects aimed at overcoming physical and sensory barriers.
