Gardone Riviera Launches Summer 2000 Program with Music, Food, and Events
Municipal Administration, Vittoriale Foundation, restaurateurs, tourism operators, and commercial entities. Perhaps for the first time, all local entities in Gardone—public and private—have left behind the sterile divisions of the past and shared their efforts to offer residents and tourists a summer truly full of entertainment reasons.
Presentation of the «Gardone Estate 2000» Program
From this new synergy, the «Gardone Estate 2000» program was born, presented yesterday in the magnificent setting of Villa del Sogno. «Each entity,» said the municipal Culture Councilor Giovanna Ciccarelli, «contributed ideas and resources with the shared belief that Gardone Riviera, in its history and tradition, is a tourist town.»
We start from the lakeside promenade, which, thanks to the collaboration with the «Gardoneuropa» association, will be animated by forty quality music evenings organized under the artistic direction of classical guitarist Marco De Santi. From June 11 to September 15, prominent jazz artists will perform on the lakeside walkway, including pianist Paolo Birro, accordionist Fausto Beccalossi, and guitarist Sandro Gibellini.
Along the lakeside, every Saturday from June 9 to September 30, an antique market will be set up. During July and August, traditional book stalls will also operate. The lakeside evenings are complemented by shows at the Vittoriale (this year, a total of 25 evenings are scheduled, double the number of previous years) and Monday concerts in the D’Annunzio gardens during July and August.
The Vittoriale, from July 4 to September 10, will also host the exhibition «Per non dormire, eleganza notturna al Vittoriale» (To Stay Awake: Nighttime Elegance at the Vittoriale). As early as June 3, the renewed exhibition of the «Gabriele D’Annunzio War Museum» at the Schifamondo will be open to the public.
Special attention has been given to the increasingly popular enogastronomic tourism. Thanks to the collaboration between the Municipality, restaurateurs, wine shops, and the Garda Classico Consortium, events such as «Il Groppello in tavola» (June 9, 10, 11) and «Chiaretto, il vino di una notte» (June 30, July 1 and 2) will be offered.
Entertainment evenings will also take place in the hamlets: at Fasano, dialect plays (July 22 and August 10) and a concert by the Salò town band (August 13); at San Michele, the traditional festivals of the Alpine Group (July 28, 29, and 30, and August 5 and 6); at Gardone Sopra, in the Vittoriale square, two concerts are scheduled (July 2 and 14), along with the «Il Garda tra antico e vecchi mestieri» market (July 11).
Sports Events and Other Activities
Among the sports events, we recall the much-anticipated boat regatta on the lakeside promenade (July 29) and the «10 Kilometer Gardone» running race (August 4). A packed schedule, therefore, offering something for everyone. s. bot.
