Gargnano Hosts Memorial Theatre Performance for 2026 Day of Remembrance

Gargnano’s Culture Department will host the theatrical play “Foibe. Il Ricordo” on February 10, 2026, at 8:30 PM at the parish theater, marking the final event of the “Gargnano a Teatro” season for 2025-2026. The free performance commemorates the Day of Remembrance, focusing on the Foibe massacres and the exodus of approximately 250,000 Italians from Istria and Dalmatia.

The play highlights the tragedy of those killed in the foibe, with Basovizza as a symbol of this forgotten atrocity, and aims to educate about Italy’s recent history. Organizers emphasize that the production seeks to explore a chapter of the past that warrants collective memory through historical events and testimonies.
