Gargnano intensifies local police controls against illegal races
Intensified checks by the Local Police of Gargnano and Desenzano del Garda have taken place at the Valvestino dam to combat the phenomenon of illegal racing. Throughout the summer, numerous fines and penalties have been issued to drivers engaging in dangerous maneuvers in the park. Authorities have announced that checkpoints will be further increased in the coming days, particularly during peak tourist season. Recently, thirty fines were issued, with vehicles being stopped for excessive speeding.
The inspections also included checks for potential modifications to vehicles, such as non-compliant exhaust systems and alterations to rearview mirrors. The mayor of Gargnano highlighted the progress made thanks to these checks, which were initiated after a reported illegal gathering by residents in July, who shared videos of the races on social media. Since then, the police have implemented measures to monitor and penalize risky behaviors during busy summer periods.
