Gargnano will host two events in just over a week centered on the San Francesco complex: the conference Sorella Natura on Saturday 26 September, followed by the two-day Slow Gargnano event on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October. The 26 September meeting focuses on the Franciscan canticle, while Slow Gargnano spotlights products from the Alto Garda area, including oil, wine, honey and citrus, along with the landscape of the lemon groves that help shape them.
On Saturday 26 September at 20:30, Conversazioni francescane will take place in the Church of San Francesco in via Roma 47. After institutional greetings, the talk Sorella Natura. Il cantico delle creature will be delivered by Professor Pietro Gibellini, with musical accompaniment by the Ensemble Palma Choralis and the participation of students from the Istituto Italiano di Musica Antica. Admission is free, and the evening is supported by the Fondazione della Comunità Bresciana and RODA S.p.A.
Slow Gargnano begins on Saturday 3 October in the Chiostro di San Francesco, where from 10:00 to 17:00 visitors can take part in a tasting route with four workshops dedicated to wine, honey, citrus, capers and extra-virgin olive oil. The programme includes the cooking class Cucinare il territorio and three other lab sessions, with three time slots (10:00-11:30, 12:00-13:30 and 14:00-15:30); places are limited and registration is required. At 17:30 the day concludes at Palazzo Feltrinelli, the seat of the Università degli Studi di Milano, with the free public conference I prodotti dell’Alto Garda da San Francesco ai giorni nostri in un viaggio storico, paesaggistico e gastronomico until seats run out. On Sunday 4 October, the Chiostro hosts Verso il Mercato della Terra from 9:00 to 17:00, and guided walks to Gargnano’s lemon groves and olive groves depart at 10:00 and 14:00, with a final tasting by Cooperativa Agricola Terre&Sapori; participation is limited and registration is mandatory.
