Gargnano Summer 2023: Sports, Culture, and Local Events Overview

Tourist season in Gargnano. The sunshine these days promises good weather, and hopes for a successful start are centered on the schedule devised by the Pro Loco, with the participation of a large group of clubs and associations. It is precisely from the Pro Loco’s program that one can gather indications about the summer months which, as tradition, feature initiatives across the territory.

Sports events

Attention immediately shifts to the sports events, the true highlight of the calendar. The most significant are organized by sailing, with the Circolo Vela Gargnano once again partnering with a National Lottery. The event, which will make someone rich, is called the “Centomiglia Games” and will take place in the waters between Bogliaco and Gargnano from August 24 to 26.

Naturally, along with the long series of regattas that will punctuate the summer, the main event is scheduled for September 15, when the 51st Centomiglia will begin. This year, Gargnano enters the new season with a couple of notable innovations. One involves the founding of a Hotel Owners Association (president is Andrea Arosio), which has already started working.

The other relates to the innovations developed at the top of the Pro Loco itself, now led by a new president: Angelo Villaretti. In addition to sailing, athletics takes a prominent place, with an event in Navazzo, the 28th edition of La Diecimiglia del Garda, organized by the Gruppo Sportivo Montegargnano on August 5.

Followed by (September 30) is the 15th Maratonina del Garda, organized by the Hinterland Gardesano e Valle del Chiese of Costantino Felter. Another sport involving the bisse: on July 14, the town will pour onto the lakeside to cheer for a local crew from Villanella, in search of a victory that will, sooner or later, have to arrive.

Sports and culture

A «green» sport is archery, scheduled for July 1. In the woods between Navazzo and Gaino, archers from all over Lombardy will compete in a regional and provincial race, which includes the “6th Trofeo Punta d’argento“. Culture merges with sport in the program. Several art exhibitions are planned at the former town hall, the musical event «Sulle ali delle note», band concerts, youth activities, and the popular Gargnano tombola «El Fuff», with Giacomino Magrograssi and Cesare Bernardini serving as hosts.

Other events include: the Alpini festival, markets, Cantalago 2001, beer festival, fireworks, guest celebration, beach party. The Vibibogliaco Association also dedicates space to its piazza aperitifs, dialect theater, and photo contests.
