Gargnano to Host Conference on Istrian-Dalmatian Exodus Featuring Prof. Giovanni Spinelli
Gargnano will host a conference on the Giulian-Dalmatian exodus on the Brescia shore of Lake Garda, Tuesday, June 9 at 8:30 p.m. in the Castellani multipurpose hall. The event, organized by the Associazione Storico-Archeologica della Riviera del Garda (A.S.A.R.) in collaboration with Garda Storie, is part of a series of Alto Garda Bresciano talks coordinated by Bruno Festa, and entry is free. The speaker, Prof. Giovanni Spinelli, will present “From the Adriatic to Benaco: the Giulian-Dalmatian Exodus on the Brescia shore of Garda,” offering a historical analysis of the migration and its local testimonies and consequences.
The initiative is supported by numerous local and cultural bodies, including the Comune di Salò, Provincia di Brescia, Città di Salò with Salò Cultura, Città di Gardone Riviera, the Borghi più belli d’Italia circuit, and several municipalities: Tremosine, Gargnano, Tignale, Toscolano Maderno, and Lombardore. Other partners include Comunità Montana Parco Alto Garda Bresciano, MU.RE. (Museo del Recioto), MUSA (Museo Alto Garda), Fondazione Museo Storico del Nastro Azzurro, Fondazione Luigi Michieli, CaDMe Casa Della Memoria, Museo della Carta di Toscolano Maderno, Centro Studi RSI, and Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. The conference is part of the cultural project “Il volo della storia viva” to promote local historical memory and dialogue among institutions, associations, and residents.
