A man was reported yesterday, Friday, May 16, in Gavardo for using a fake driver’s license and for identity fraud. The investigation conducted by the local police revealed that the individual, during three roadside checks, presented a counterfeit document issued in someone else’s name, although it bore his photograph. This attempt to evade detection was motivated by the fact that his original license had been revoked years ago due to a driving under the influence incident.
The investigation was initiated after two traffic accidents in which the man was involved, consistently showing the same fake document. His nervous and aggressive behavior raised the officers’ suspicions, leading them to confirm the falsity of the license. During an evening check, the man was stopped while driving and eventually admitted his true identity. In addition to being reported for the identified offenses, he was also charged with driving with a suspended license, and the vehicle was subjected to administrative seizure. The investigation continues to determine whether he acted alone or with accomplices.
