April 12th marked a significant moment for the alternative-rock duo Gemini Blue, with the release of the music video for “Cornhouse,” their first single of the year and a preview of their upcoming album. This song stands out not only for its musical quality but also for its deep and personal theme.

Directed, filmed, and edited by Martina Cavinato, “Cornhouse” is not just a musical piece but an exploration of addiction. The title itself is a tribute to two late music icons, Chris Cornell and Amy Winehouse, both known for their personal battles with addiction. Through this song, Gemini Blue touch on delicate themes with sensitivity and depth.

The production of the single was entrusted to Paolo Blodio Fappani, who worked alongside the duo at LeKlubHaus in Brescia. The artwork for the single continues the collaboration between Gemini Blue and the KNUP! Collective, solidifying a creative synergy that is reflected in the visual aesthetic associated with the duo’s music.

Since their debut in 2020, Osasmuede Aigbe (vocals and guitar) and Giacomo Sansoni (drums and percussion) have charted a distinctive artistic path. With roots in modern blues and explorations in rock, Gemini Blue has managed to create a sound that engages with different musical traditions while maintaining a stylistic coherence. Their album “Players Will Play, Lovers Will Pay,” released in April 2023, garnered critical acclaim for its ability to blend traditional elements with sonic innovations.

Their commitment to experimentation was also evident during their auditions on X Factor, where they presented an improvised afrobeat version of Jimi Hendrix’s “Hey Joe.” This performance highlighted the duo’s versatility in reinterpreting classics in modern and ethnic keys.
