Poste Italiane, general strike on June 3rd, services at risk. Tuesday, June 3rd is set to be a day of disruption for Poste Italiane, as a general strike has been called that will involve all employees of the group, organized by the Slc Cgil and Uil Poste unions. The work stoppage will also extend to extraordinary activities until July 2nd, due to rising tensions between the unions and the company regarding job insecurity and a lack of dialogue. The strike will affect the entire work shift on June 3rd, potentially causing delays in mail and package deliveries, as well as in pension payments and postal bill services.
The reasons behind the mobilization have been clarified by the General Secretaries of Cgil and Uil, Maurizio Landini and Pierpaolo Bombardieri, who expressed concern over the company’s silencing of workers’ voices. They emphasized the importance of ensuring decent working conditions in light of the good economic results achieved by Poste Italiane. Furthermore, they highlighted how the rationalization of postal offices is depriving the most vulnerable communities of an essential service. Nevertheless, essential minimum services will be guaranteed during the strike.
