The municipality of Lonato del Garda is preparing to host a significant event for wine and food enthusiasts. On August 22, from 7:00 PM to 11:30 PM, the gardens on Via Ugo da Como will become the stage for the first edition of “Calici di Stelle,” an event promoted by the National Association of Wine Cities and the Wine Tourism Movement.
An Event to Enhance the Territory
The main objective of the event is to promote historic centers and places of cultural, architectural, and scenic interest through tastings of local wines. Mayor Roberto Tardani expressed enthusiasm regarding the municipality’s membership in the National Association of Wine Cities, which occurred in October of last year. Tardani emphasizes the importance of the event in promoting local wine traditions and bringing citizens closer to the region’s typical products.
Important Collaborations
“Calici di Stelle” is also supported by the Lombardy Region and the Chamber of Commerce of Brescia. The initiative is organized by the municipality in collaboration with the Strada dei Vini e dei Sapori del Garda Association and the Ugo da Como Foundation. The Councillor for Culture, Tourism, and Events, Mariangela Musci, highlighted how the event represents a unique opportunity to showcase local production capabilities in a context that combines tourism and culture.
Event Details
The evening will feature guided tastings led by AIS (Italian Sommelier Association) sommeliers, who will accompany participants in discovering the region’s typical wines, including Lugana, Rosa Valtenesi, Chiaretto, and Groppello. Additionally, culinary pairings with local extra virgin olive oil will be offered. The event is structured into three tasting sessions: the first from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, the second from 8:30 PM to 10:00 PM, and the final session from 10:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
Entry and Reservations
Entry to “Calici di Stelle” is by reservation at a cost of €25 per person, which includes the guided tour “Veder le Stelle” within the Rocca, curated by the Brescia Astrofilidi Association. For those wishing to deepen their experience, it will also be possible to visit the “Casa del Podestà” with an exhibition dedicated to Nino Ferrari for an additional cost of €8.
In case of bad weather, the event will take place at the Town Hall, where adequate spaces for tastings will be arranged.
