Gran Carnevale 2001 Changes Include New Date and Program Focus
The Gran Carnevale 2001 is changing: it will no longer have a president because it will always be led by Albino Marchi – already beginning his thirteenth consecutive two-year term – but instead it will feature the date of the committee presentation and the program composition: no longer December 8th, as had been tradition for nearly two decades, but Sunday, December 17th, again in the council chamber of the Casinò.
From the calendar of the first edition of the third millennium, the 125th of the series which began way back in 1876, the less original proposals will be dropped.
The 2001 Carnival will no longer focus on attempts at Guinness World Records, which now appear in the programs of the most remote village festivals, but will enhance events such as Caminarmagnando and its companions, for which a route entirely within the olive grove has been designed.
Additionally, on the eve of the Viennese ball, there will be the Debutantes’ Ball, a completely new event.
