Grazie di Curtatone Hosts 52nd National Madonnari Meeting Featuring Night Works on St. Francis
The 52nd National Meeting of Madonnari will take place in Grazie di Curtatone as part of the Antichissima Fiera delle Grazie from Thursday, 13 August 2026, after the 18:00 blessing of the chalks, until the afternoon of Saturday, 15 August 2026. For the first time, artists will work for two consecutive nights—between 13–14 and 14–15 August—to create temporary artworks on site.
The event will feature a special asphalt treatment inspired by the studies of Kurt Wenner, using a mixture of bituminous paste, Marseille soap and wallpaper glue, presented by Madonnari Museum director Paola Artoni and art historian Paolo Bertelli. The programme includes the Madonnari Museum, around 200 fair exhibitors, and an international AIC conference in Florence on 3–4 September 2026, while the official theme is “The message of Saint Francis in the colours of the Madonnari,” illustrated by Giulia Monzani. Artists from abroad will make up more than 20% of participants.
