Grole’s New Square and Green Space Ready Ahead of Inauguration

The inauguration of Grole’s square has been postponed to Sunday, April 29, but the new green area and the churchyard, which cost over 700 million lire, have been completed and are already accessible to the residents of the frazione.

Details about the inauguration and the works carried out

As explained by Mayor Sigurtà, the ribbon-cutting was postponed at the request of the local population, making it likely that the Prefect will also attend, along with a refreshment and charity stalls organized by the local Gru-Gro.

Indeed, the residents of Grole, through the frazione coordinator Raffaella Bolzoni, express satisfaction with the new square, which features a green park, benches, pedestrian pathways, a fountain, plants, and an ecological oasis, as well as a parking lot and the church’s churchyard, with a marble balustrade.

The road layout has been slightly shifted, and beyond the carriageway, an additional green space has been created.

Reactions and comments on the new square

“The result is better than we expected,” comments Bolzoni. “Finally, we have the square we’ve been waiting for decades, and our children can enjoy themselves in the green park.”

The residents are pleased with the realization, which they find very beautiful from an aesthetic point of view, and they want to thank Mayor Sigurtà.

It has always been the mayor himself, together with the public works councilor, Innocente Sereni, who has overseen the square project, which was already open at the start of the legislative term.

According to Raffaella Bolzoni, now people will need to use the new parking lot and avoid parking along the road: “I hope the municipality will put parking restrictions because we need to get used to being more courteous and disciplined.”

And what about the criticisms some people have voiced regarding the new square? “No more than five people,” comments Bolzoni. “A negligible number, although often those who complain tend to attract more attention than those who appreciate it. In Grole, the situation has improved compared to the past.

The ponds are maintained, the monument to the French is restored, and new benches have been installed.
