The Guardia di Finanza in Brescia carried out checks ahead of the reopening of schools, inspecting 17 commercial businesses across the province, including shops in Manerba del Garda, Moniga del Garda and other municipalities. The operation led to the seizure of over 580,000 items that either lacked safety requirements or bore counterfeit labels, including more than 286,000 school and stationery products such as notebooks, pens, pencils and drawing accessories. Inspectors found breaches of the Consumer Code, mainly the absence of essential information in Italian, details on origin, and instructions for use.
In two separate cases involving premises in Breno and Brescia, the Guardia di Finanza seized about 9,100 items bearing counterfeit marks. This resulted in the reporting of 2 people to the judicial authority for selling goods with false signs and for receiving stolen goods. The owners of the businesses found to be non-compliant were also reported to the local Chamber of Commerce, with administrative penalties ranging from approximately 9,300 euro to 219,000 euro.
