Guidizzolo Poster’s 100th Anniversary Celebrates Local Theater Heritage
Every so often, our past resurfaces with discoveries of important facts or things, but sometimes also with small, charming details. Paolo Saccoman, a retired teacher and student of Monzambano’s religious history, shows us a poster discovered among the antique belongings of the Pasetti-Barana family from Guidizzolo (the family of Saccoman’s wife).
The Poster and the Anniversary Ceremony
The poster celebrated its 100th anniversary on Wednesday, October 24 (100 years ago it was a Thursday), and announces an evening of honor at the Teatro Sociale di Guidizzolo in tribute to the Prima Donna of Singing Signora Maria Grifoni and the talented Signor P. Grifoni.
Both are part of a Drama and Singing Company directed by P. Grifoni himself.
Details of the Evening and Performances
According to the poster, the evening will begin at 7:30 p.m. (although the poster shows a sequence of the digits 7, 1, and 2 separated by a slash), and will feature a Three-act Comedy: “La Zia di Carlo” (“Carlo’s Aunt”) and subsequently the premiere of a one-act operetta in six scenes: “Gran Via”.
Unique detail: among the ten actors performing in the comedy, four share the same last name: A. Cursi, I. Cursi, S. Cursi, V. Cursi.
