Gulf of Salò Fund Sets Record for 13th Edition on June 27

The 13th edition of “Fondo nel Golfo,” a open-water swimming event promoted by Società Canottieri Garda, will take place in Salò on Saturday, June 27, with a record 440 entries. The program will also include the Lombardy Regional Long-Distance Championship, expanded this year to include Master categories alongside youth divisions (Ragazzi, Juniors, Cadets) and the senior category (Assoluti).

About 300 athletes are expected to compete in the first block of races, compared with 68 participants recorded in 2024, when the event returned after 13 years. The organizers will set up a safety plan with resources from the Coast Guard and the Finance Police, supported by more than 50 volunteers, including lifeguards with FIN certification; navigation will be suspended during the races.

Masters will start at 10:45 over the 1.7 km mile distance, while Ragazzi, Juniors, Cadets and Assoluti will race at 16:30 over 3 km. “Fondo nel Golfo” will begin at 18:40 with distances of 4.5 km, 3 km and 1.5 km, starting from Sirena Beach near the Canottieri headquarters, with the Master Canottieri team—who created the event in 2012—taking part.
