Hand Grenade Found in Lake Garda, Torbole Beach Evacuated
A hand grenade was found in Lake Garda waters in front of the Torbole lakeside area, after a swimmer brought it to shore and alerted authorities. Firefighters from Riva del Garda and the State Police evacuated the area within a 100-metre radius and set up a safety line to allow a controlled response.
Explosive ordnance disposal specialists from the Alpine Brigade “Julia” took charge of the device, secured it, and removed it from the beach. Carabinieri, Trentino Emergenza, and Croce Bianca Alto Garda also responded on site. The grenade will be detonated at a suitable location, and after the operation the alert was lifted with no reported consequences.
