Garda Veneto: Heavy vehicles banned on the Affi-Peschiera bypass this summer. The ban on vehicles over 7.5 tons will be in effect from June 8 to September 8, from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, as established by Veneto Strade. This measure, already tested last year to address summer traffic congestion, was confirmed during a meeting at the Prefecture attended by the mayors of Peschiera and Affi, as well as representatives from the A4 and A22 motorway companies. The aim is to limit the use of the bypass as a shortcut between the motorway toll booths around Garda Veneto.
In 2024, the measure resulted in a 30% reduction in heavy vehicle traffic, decreasing from an average of 2,500 to 1,800 vehicles per day. Some exceptions are expected for loading and unloading goods in the province of Verona; however, challenges remain regarding enforcement by law enforcement and the functioning of satellite navigation systems that direct truck drivers towards restricted sections.
