An important operation against drug trafficking and money laundering took place in recent days in the Upper Garda area, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals and the seizure of assets valued at approximately 470,000 euros. The Carabinieri of the Operational Unit of the Riva del Garda Company, under the mandate of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rovereto, executed a measure that expands an investigation initiated last October, which had already led to 33 precautionary measures against individuals suspected of drug trafficking. The new investigations revealed an organized system for reinvesting illicit money into apartments, luxury watches, and financial instruments registered under third parties’ names.
The searches were conducted in various locations across Trentino, Piedmont, and Lombardy, involving over 30 military personnel from local Carabinieri Companies, supported by anti-drug canine units. This operation is part of a broader strategy aimed at targeting the finances of the criminal organization, which had previously been involved in the seizure of an apartment valued at over 200,000 euros and two other luxury watches. These interventions aim to deprive criminal groups of the profits derived from their illicit activities, further hindering their operational capacity in the drug market.
