Hikers’ illnesses in Brentino Belluno: intervention by the Alpine Rescue
Two incidents involving hikers occurred along the Pilgrim’s Path in Brentino Belluno on the morning of Sunday, September 28. Rescue workers from the Mountain Rescue team were called into action twice within a few minutes, starting at 11:45 AM, when a 65-year-old man from Cesena suffered a medical emergency at the beginning of the trail leading to the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Corona, a popular destination. Fortunately, a team from the Mountain Rescue was nearby conducting a training exercise and was able to respond promptly, assisting the man until the ambulance arrived. While the rescuers were still on the scene for the first emergency, a second request for help came in for a woman who had fallen ill near the sanctuary. In this case, it was necessary to deploy the Trento 118 helicopter for the recovery and transport of the patient to the hospital for the required medical care. These closely timed events highlighted the importance of the efficiency and preparedness of rescue teams in areas frequented by hikers. Italian Version
