House Arrest: Man Leaves to Buy Groceries in Desenzano

A 40-year-old man from Desenzano del Garda, under house arrest, was caught inside the Lidl supermarket in the Le Vele shopping center while shopping, after an off-duty Carabinieri officer recognized him and intervened to stop him from leaving the store. The officer had previously carried out a check at the man’s home and noticed the coincidence, alerting the Carabinieri operations center before patrol units arrived and took over the case.

The man was arrested on the spot for alleged escape from custody and, after the required formalities, was returned to his residence in Desenzano to continue serving his house arrest while awaiting the judicial authority. A direct trial hearing (rito direttissimo) is scheduled at the Court of Brescia.
