On September 24, 2024, a meeting took place in Desenzano del Garda involving representatives of the **Lions of the Garda area**, the press officer **Bocchio**, the second Vice Governor **Cristian Manfredi**, and the Minister of Rural Development of the Democratic Republic of Congo, **Dr. Muhindo Nzangi Butumbo**, accompanied by his staff. The meeting addressed crucial issues concerning the challenges facing the Democratic Republic of Congo and potential synergies with the Lions to tackle these problems.

### The Challenges of Congo and Synergies with the Lions

During the meeting, Minister **Butumbo** outlined how his government is advancing studies and projects of a **social-humanitarian** nature, aimed at combating hunger and improving the living conditions of the Congolese population. In particular, the Minister emphasized the central role of the **”Food Program,”** an initiative designed to ensure food support for the most vulnerable segments of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The press officer **Massimiliano Bocchio** and the second Vice Governor **Cristian Manfredi** expressed the willingness of the **Lions of the Garda area** to actively collaborate on projects that can make a difference for Congolese communities. The Lions, who have always been close to the most vulnerable populations, conveyed their readiness to explore new joint initiatives in response to the challenges highlighted by the Minister.

The meeting was described as **cordial** and rich in insights for future development. The foundations for concrete cooperation have been laid, with the intent to unite the efforts of the Lions and the Congolese government in long-term projects.
