Illegal Poker Bust in Lonato: Club Councillor Arrested
A clandestine poker event was uncovered on Friday, August 28, at a private club in Lonato del Garda during a joint operation by ADM Lombardy 7 officials, Guardia di Finanza officers from Desenzano del Garda, and police from the Public Security Commissioner’s Office. Investigators identified over 70 attendees and interviewed more than 20 people, finding tournaments with entry fees, chips, and guaranteed prize pools worth several thousand euros, despite the venue being formally registered as a non-commercial association.
During the search, officers seized multiple gaming kiosks stored in a closet that lacked the required authorizations and were not connected to the online network of the Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli. Police also found more than 180 grams of marijuana and €2,500 in cash. The club’s adviser, identified as the tournament organizer, was arrested on the spot for drug possession for the purpose of dealing and for illegal gambling; the arrest was upheld by the Brescia court, which ordered him to report to the judicial police. The premises, equipment, and drugs were confiscated, and tax checks are ongoing.
