Illegal Tourist Accommodations in Riva del Garda: Guardia di Finanza Uncovers Over 300,000 Euros in Undeclared Revenue

The issue of illegal tourist accommodations in Riva del Garda is at the center of an investigation by the Guardia di Finanza: according to their checks, five apartments were managed without the necessary administrative and tax authorizations, resulting in over 300,000 euros in undeclared income. The operation was conducted by the financiers of the Riva del Garda Tenenza as part of controls against illegal activities and tax evasion in the hospitality sector of the Upper Garda region.

Investigations into the Five Apartments

The checks focused on an individual who, according to the Fiamme Gialle’s reconstruction, managed five tourist apartments created within a two-story building near the town center. The accommodations reportedly lacked the necessary building and residential permits.

The apartments were advertised on portals such as Booking, Airbnb, Vrbo, and Expedia. The Guardia di Finanza determined that the high number of reservations, the continuity of management, and the organization of the facility constituted a business activity. The owner operated without a VAT number, and investigations into financial records and bookings revealed over 300,000 euros in undeclared income.

Reports to the Prosecutor and Trentino Riscossioni

The operator has been reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rovereto for the alleged violation of the obligation to communicate guest details to the Public Security Authority, as required by Article 109, paragraph 3, of the Consolidated Text of Public Security Laws (TULPS).

Additionally, a report was filed with Trentino Riscossioni for the alleged failure to pay the provincial tourist tax. The proceedings are currently in the preliminary investigation phase, and the person involved is to be considered innocent until a final, irrevocable judgment is reached.
