Impresa Collini Trucks Unload Rocks as Lake and Dock Show Signs of Strain
The trucks from Impresa Collini have been regularly unloading rocks, stones, and soil for weeks now, with Swiss precision. The lake swallow them, indifferent and greenish, without flinching—actually creating a wave. Skeptical locals are fixated on the lake, convinced that the only tangible result is avoiding the crossing of the urban perimeter by columns of large, dusty, and odorous construction trucks. As for the declared possibility of truly expanding the promenade, only time will tell.
Meanwhile, since yesterday, the southernmost dock of Navigarda has also been declared unfit for use and is headed for demolition. The buoys, or large piles tied in groups of three, sway with the gentle movement of the waves. But the walking surface of the dock also wobbles due to the failure of two of the six support piles that hold it above the water.
Structural condition of the dock and safety measures
The sizeable rocks unloaded at the end of the war, when the ring road was built on which the dock supports were installed, have shifted downward due to the pressure exerted by material from the new excavation. Dive teams from the Trento Fire Brigade, who inspected it yesterday morning, confirmed that the seabed is clean, free of debris: this means the supports are only resting on the bottom, not anchored.
Precisely: just the touch of a wave is enough to make them tremble. Navigarda’s decision, following a concerned report from Giancarlo Angelini, was to immediately release the mooring and seek an alternative for the boats (Torbole?) while waiting for the Province to intervene.
Emergency measures and Navigarda activities
In turn, the Hydraulics Office has requisitioned some space in the square at the Spiaggia degli Olivi park to quickly install a 40-meter floating pier, which will then be lowered into the water in the canal and dragged down to south of the Rossa house, providing Navigarda with an alternative mooring. The second sinking has not caused further consequences: trucks continue to unload. The standoff with the lake persists.
