Inaugural Ceremony of the Peace Festival 2024: A Meeting of Reflection and Solidarity

On Friday, November 8th at 5 PM, the Vanvitelliano Hall of Palazzo Loggia will open its doors for the inaugural ceremony of the Peace Festival 2024. The event will feature numerous local authorities and representatives from various institutions, reflecting a strong collective commitment to the values of peace and international cooperation. The presence of the mayors from the province, part of the Coordination of Local Authorities for Peace, testifies to the widespread and heartfelt support for this important occasion.

The ceremony will commence with institutional speeches from Mayor Laura Castelletti, City Council President Roberto Rossini, and Provincial Delegate Filippo Ferrari. Their remarks will embody the institutions’ commitment to fostering a constructive and conscious dialogue on issues of peace and social justice, emphasizing the significance of initiatives like the Festival.

Round Table: A Dialogue between Cultures and Experiences of Peace

Following this, journalist and writer Anna Pozzi will lead a round table focused on the dialogue between two prominent international figures in the field of human rights. The discussion will feature Godeliève Mukasarasi, originally from Rwanda, who won the Human Rights International Award in 2011 and the International Women of Courage Award in 2018, and Mohamed Ba, a writer and playwright of Senegalese origin. This moment will provide the audience with a unique opportunity to reflect on direct experiences of civic engagement and the challenges related to peacebuilding in complex social contexts often marked by deep fractures.

The testimonies of Mukasarasi and Ba will offer diverse yet complementary perspectives, enriching the debate with an intercultural and intercontinental approach. Both figures have distinguished themselves for their courage and their ability to transform pain into tools for change, sharing stories of resilience and hope that transcend geographical boundaries.
