With the inauguration of the “Cittadella dell’accoglienza” (Citadel of Welcome), a new facility adjacent to the existing headquarters of Apsp Città di Riva, new beds are expected to be added to the residential healthcare facility (RSA) in Riva del Garda. The announcement was made by the provincial health assessor, Mario Tonina, during a meeting with the president and director of Città di Riva on June 24th.

The new addition will bring the total number of beds in the RSA to 100. “I confirm what was already agreed upon in the meeting with President Franco Benuzzi,” Tonina stated. “There are 13 new authorized beds for the RSA, eight of which are contracted, to be activated by the end of 2024.”

In addition to the new beds, there are also plans to gradually implement intermediate care services. In 2025, a first nucleus of ten beds dedicated to intermediate care will be established, eventually reaching a total of 20 beds.

The assessor also confirmed that the transfer of the day center to the new facility will result in a change in its type from an integrated day center to an external day center, with corresponding adjustments to tariffs.

“With this agreement with the Province, an important piece is falling into place to fully establish the Riva facility,” commented President Franco Benuzzi. The goal is to reach 100 beds in the RSA. In the coming weeks, a call for the hiring of some social healthcare workers will be issued, and between September and October, the units will begin to be transferred to the new facility, with priority given to the dementia unit.”

Benuzzi revealed that approximately 60 residents will be transferred to the new facility in the coming months, while another 40 will remain in the existing headquarters, which will be gradually renovated.

Looking to the future, in the fall, Apsp Città di Riva plans to complete the analysis already underway for the merger project with Apsp Casa Mia. This process should lead to the joint management of the two facilities by 2025, involving over 240 employees.
