The cultural landscape of Lonato del Garda is greatly enriched by the upcoming contemporary art exhibition “Inside the Elements: Earth, Water, and Fire”, which will take place from April 21 to May 26 at the archaeological site of the Roman Kilns. This unique exhibition is the result of a collaboration between the Municipal Administration of Lonato del Garda, the ARTantide Gallery in Verona, and the site’s curator, Dr. Elisa Zentilini.
The exhibition features the participation of ten internationally renowned artists, selected for their ability to interpret themes such as sustainability and the relationship between humans and the environment through art. Curated by Sandro Orlandi Stagl and Chiara Franceschini, the exhibition aims to bridge contemporary art with the remnants of the past, promoting a deep and meaningful cultural dialogue.
The choice to hold the exhibition at the Roman Kilns is not accidental: this site, dating back to the 1st-2nd century AD, becomes not only a canvas for the exhibited works, but an active element in the dialogue between art and history. The exhibition aims to emphasize that archaeological sites are not just guardians of past stories, but can become vibrant places of cultural exchange and artistic inspiration.
Each artist involved in the exhibition brings a unique vision, transforming the spaces of the Roman Kilns into a place where the past and present coexist and interact. From Alberto Salvetti, who raises awareness about deforestation in the Amazon through his work on wild boars, to Afran, who metaphorically represents the spread of fake news with his Mushrooms, the exhibition offers a plurality of perspectives on art and society.
The exhibition aims to be not only an artistic event, but a true catalyst for reflections on our time and our responsibilities towards historical memory and the environment. It is an open invitation to explore the connections between human experiences, enriching the perception of our collective identity.
The inauguration of this internationally relevant exhibition is scheduled for April 21, 2024, an event that promises to attract not only art lovers, but anyone interested in better understanding the connection between our past and the contemporary world. The exhibition will be accessible until May 26, offering ample time to visit and immerse oneself in this exceptional cultural experience.
