Int.Dep.Cast. Advances Indoor Swimming Pool Project in Castiglione
The Int.Dep.Cast., a private company with public capital that deals with ecology, waste management, and water purification, will be responsible for constructing the new indoor swimming pool.
Breakthrough in the swimming pool project
Recent developments suggest a turning point, as confirmed during the latest city council meeting by the Sports Councillor, Angelo Tagliani. “The council has authorized Int.Dep.Cast. to assess the feasibility of the project,” explains Tagliani. “Afterward, the administration will evaluate the costs of construction and especially management, and will make a final decision, which is expected to be positive.”
A plan from the De Padova administration, kept aside for some time, will be used — despite previous criticism due to the high costs of development by the professional involved at that time. Now, they can proceed with the already prepared design, which only needs to be updated to comply with new regulations: it envisions the creation of an indoor swimming pool in the area of the outdoor swimming facility at San Pietro.
By leveraging the existing structure’s services, some of the costs can be saved. “This is a challenging assignment, but we have decided to undertake it,” stated Belluzzi, President of Int.Dep.Cast., in recent days.
Future developments and public works
Next, the plan is to evaluate the existing project, then find funding for the construction of the pool, and finally identify the best and most economical solutions for its ongoing maintenance. I believe this will be an important and much-anticipated step forward for a city like Castiglione, where enthusiasts currently have to go to other municipalities to swim during winter.
Moreover, this will not be the only public project carried out by the via Gerra entity: a plan for a parking lot beneath the walls of the Castello is already well advanced. The parking area, without asphalt or cement and densely landscaped, will accommodate about 150 cars, accessed from via Garibaldi through the alley just after the Famedio, and will exit via the road connecting to the former provincial road toward Desenzano.
The construction is expected to begin shortly and be completed by the end of the year.
