Internal Tensions Rise in Castiglione’s Majority Over Ecology Councilor Roles
There is no peace for the majority council. After clashes over the security commission, it is now the new Siem board of directors that fuels the fire of discord. The Castiglione group conducted, in recent days, an inspection that could even lead to a reshuffle in the administration led by Mayor Sigurtà.
Overlaps and Internal Tensions
In particular, the position of Ecology Councilor David Beruffi is under debate due to his recent decisions. Over the past few days, intensifying meetings have taken place between members of the Castiglione municipality’s administration affiliated with Castiglione Domani (Beruffi’s group), along with local councilors and supporters.
The internal conflicts apparently arose following the actions of Ecology Councilor regarding the election of municipal representatives to the Siem board of directors. It is known that this situation, which was initially managed by the Ecology Department and the mayor, was later handled by Councilor Bertoli and the leader of Castiglione Domani, Mattioli.
According to assessments during recent meetings, a faction within Castiglione Domani considered the actions of its councilor unacceptable and indicated that they no longer intended to refer to him. Naturally, these are leaked indications, and the exact reasons for this latest fracture within the majority list are expected to become clear only in the coming days.
Future Perspectives and Other Episodes of Tension
The potential transfer of responsibilities will still need to be evaluated personally by the mayor, who has not yet made any statement regarding this entirely unforeseen situation. Looking back about a year, another Ecology Councilor, Giuseppe D’Ambrosio, fell into disfavor and was subsequently replaced.
It is evident that this administration, which was primarily elected to prevent the landfill, finds no peace within when discussions involve ecology and waste management. This is not the only source of tension within the majority, which is increasingly characterized by the quarrelsome nature of the three supporting lists, with a progressive isolation of the Environmental Socialists.
