An important judicial operation has shaken Trentino, involving the mayor of Riva del Garda, Cristina Santi, among the nine individuals arrested as part of investigations coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia and Anti-Terrorism Directorate of the Prosecutor’s Office in Trento. The charges include criminal association, bid rigging, and illegal financing of political parties. The operation saw the intervention of the Carabinieri and the Financial Police, who executed a precautionary order and conducted over 100 searches across various Italian provinces.
In addition to Santi, well-known entrepreneurs such as René Benko and Vittorio Fravezzi were arrested, along with other professionals and municipal officials. The investigations have revealed an alleged business group capable of influencing public decisions in the construction sector by providing funding for electoral campaigns in exchange for administrative favors. A total of 77 individuals are currently under investigation, including 11 public officials and members of law enforcement. The situation remains delicate as authorities continue their inquiries.
