Italy’s Salò-Desenzano Road 572 Upgraded with New Safety Projects
The issues of the statal road 572 dominated the scene on Sunday morning during the official inauguration of the ninth edition of the «Mostra mercato del tartufo bresciano» in Puegnago: an event that successfully «filled» the weekend, highlighting an unexpected visit from the Italian wine guru, Luigi Veronelli, and reaffirming itself as a gathering of growing significance, capable of hosting important debate and in-depth discussion moments.

It is therefore not surprising that the Show was chosen by the provincial Public Works councilor, Mauro Parolini, as the venue for announcing a new, major project aimed at improving traffic flow and safety on the old route connecting the two capitals of Lower Garda.
Next Friday, in fact, the mayors of the nine municipalities along the Salò-Desenzano strip, including the seven of Valtenesi, will sign an agreement of program with Parolini at the Province to carry out a study of the traffic conditions on the 572: a large-scale project coinciding with the transfer of the road’s responsibilities to the Province, scheduled for the beginning of next year.
Parolini expressed hope that, beyond competence, resources will also come from the State, resources more necessary than ever to adapt this very important communication route to a context that has changed profoundly since its construction era.
Planned Interventions for 2001-2002
Among the interventions planned for 2001-2002, besides the construction of a roundabout at Crociale di Manerba, already designed in collaboration with the Province and awarded in recent days by the municipal administration (work will commence in January), there are also plans for new roundabouts at Cunettone and Raffa: the latter being particularly appreciated by Puegnago’s mayor, Gianfranco Comincioli.
«The Raffa situation is extremely delicate and must be addressed as soon as possible – said the mayor –. Unfortunately, the statal road cuts the hamlet in half, and immediate intervention is necessary to ensure greater safety; especially regarding access to the main road.»
Comincioli highlighted that the provincial administration’s intervention on a particularly sensitive issue like traffic is a success not achieved by a single municipality but through a coordination of mayors who have recently managed to foster the spirit of collaboration needed to promote the search for common solutions to some of the area’s main problems.
