Joint Naval Drill Off Desenzano Coordinates Police and Rescue Forces
A naval exercise held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, off Desenzano’s coast tested joint operational capabilities between police and emergency services, with senior officials from Brescia and Verona and government representatives in attendance. The drill focused on standardising procedures across national and local entities.
Coordinated by the Guardia di Finanza’s Aeronaval Operations Unit in Como and the Guardia Costiera’s Lakes Operations Unit in Milan, the exercise involved personnel and vessels from Guardia di Finanza, Coast Guard, Polizia di Stato, Carabinieri, the fire brigade, the provincial police of Brescia, the Italian Red Cross, AREU, and Garda volunteer groups. It was carried out in two scenarios: “Security,” involving the stopping of an armed person aboard a passenger ship, and “Safety,” covering the recovery of people in the water, passenger evacuation and firefighting onboard, supported by the Basin Authority and using the “Zanardelli” and “San Marco” motorboats.
