Laini School Faces Building and Meal Service Challenges, Parents Plan Action

The “Laini” school, which serves both kindergarten and elementary levels, is facing a crisis. The alert was raised by the Parents’ Committee during a recent meeting. They report a severe situation, both in terms of structural deficiencies and issues related to the school meal service, including some demands and concerns.

Building issues and parents’ initiatives

The building appears inadequate to accommodate the steadily growing number of students. The committee urges the construction of a new kindergarten in the Grezze area and demands that at least one of the services be addressed within 15 days. They also announce plans to collect signatures and consider action measures in September if the situation remains unresolved.

This includes the threat to suspend payment of school meal fees. This is another significant issue. The lack of space has forced the use of double shifts, and parents have consistently opposed the introduction of fixed-rate payment systems for meals.

Parents’ complaints and future projects

In contrast, parents are calling for a payment system based on the actual number of meals consumed. They also plan to build a new gymnasium by converting three classrooms in the old one. According to Emanuele Giustacchini, the councilor, construction of the new kindergarten will begin in January 2001.

In the meantime, double shifts in the cafeteria will continue, and the school will change its meal payment system. Details of these plans will be discussed in a parent assembly.
