Lake Garda Events Guide: Wine, Music, and Cultural Activities This Weekend
The roar of engines echoes from the “Caprino-Spiazzi” race and a series of excursions on foot, by bicycle, horseback riding, skating, and canoeing along the banks of the Mincio River, all coupled with cultural events and prominent wine-related activities bringing life to Lake Garda during this first weekend of June. TODAY. A day of trials in Caprino for the automobile race valid for the Italian Hill Climb Championship. Meanwhile, in the upper lake area, several band concerts take place: in Riva at the Rocca courtyard at 9 p.m. with the local band concert, and in Dro at the oratorio square, two days of festivities featuring gastronomy and entertainment to celebrate the centenary of the Dro and Caniga Social Band. On the rock side, a must-attend event in Bardolino with Compagni di Merende performing from 11 p.m. at Cantina di Franciscus.
Events Tomorrow and Cultural Activities
TOMORROW. Wine conference in Bardolino at 10 a.m. in the town hall, with a horse-drawn carriage and a little train available to leisurely enjoy the landscape and the wineries’ hospitality. Also in Bardolino, the “Apollonie 2000” show/stage performance, organized by the cultural association Dìapason at the Corallo theater. For “Terre dell’Alto Mincio” in Peschiera, Venetian rowing, guided tour of Forte Ardietti, and boat ride around the walls. In Ponti, an art exhibition titled “Beyond Painting” and at 9 p.m., music in the square with rock and funk styles. Canoe rides in Monzambano and Valeggio, guided visits to the castle, Sigurtà Park, and Mincio Park. In Caprino, the classic car race is organized so as not to interfere with pilgrimages to the Sanctuary of Madonna della Corona.
In the evening, the following cultural events are scheduled: in Cavaion, at 8:15 p.m. at Arena Torcolo, “Taxi a due piazze” presented by Piccolo Teatro del Garda; with the Polyphonic Choir of Bardolino at 9:30 p.m. in the Cisano parish church; and at the Castello Theater in Malcesine, a ballet performance (9 p.m.) by Ballett Campus Koenigstein. A double event in Riva at 9 p.m., with Anzolin de la Tor choir in the Rocca courtyard and a showcase by the students of the Band Corps at the auditorium. In Camalavicina di Castelnuovo, three days of festivities honoring the Madonna.

SUNDAY. In the “Terre dell’Alto Mincio,” Venetian rowing at Peschiera, a foot race in Ponti, horseback riding in Monzambano, and a bike ride in Borghetto. Visit to the Tognon bastion in Peschiera, exhibition of Mimmo Rotella in Ponti, exhibition “Know the Fish” in Monzambano, and canoe rides in Valeggio. Choral concert in Malcesine featuring the Madrigais Singers from the University of the Philippines, at 9 p.m. at the Castello theater (ticket price 1.10 million lire). At Tratto Spino sul Baldo in Malcesine, the spring festival with the Caprino group from Ctg. In Bardolino, at 9 p.m., at the church of Santi Nicolo e Severo, concert by Schola Cantorum.
MONDAY. A repeat performance of the Madrigais Singers concert at the Castello theater, conducted by Andrea O. Verena-cion. The provincial bocce tournament begins in Cavaion, and at Castello Scaligero di Torri, a photography exhibition by Giorgio Tani. (a.j.)
