Lake Garda Hosts Three-Day Civil Protection and Federalism Conference

“Civil Protection and Federalism” is the title of the conference opening this morning, at 10:45 a.m., at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Riva.

For three days, Lake Garda will serve as the backdrop for a series of seminars and conferences featuring Italy’s leading experts in managing large emergencies, starting with Franco Barberi, Director of the Civil Protection Agency.

The sessions, which will be introduced by Lorenzo Dellai, President of the Province of Trento, and Franco Barberi, aim to clarify the paths taken by various provincial and regional entities in implementing the new regulations on civil protection.

The initiative was promoted by Director Barberi himself, who during a site visit to areas most affected by last autumn’s bad weather, proposed organizing a national conference right in our province.

Community Involvement and Conference Goals

Prince Lorenzo Dellai welcomed the invitation enthusiastically because “it presents an opportunity for discussion and exchange of experiences among entities operating in contexts that are absolutely different in terms of specificity, organizational systems, and traditions.”

The seminar, which will be divided into three sessions plus a plenum, will today be preceded by a group visit to the construction site of the Limone tunnel on the Gardesana Occidentale, beneath Monte Sperone, whose excavation was completed last Friday.
