Lake Garda Scammers Pose as Police, Trick Businesses in Fraud Scheme

They pose as carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs of Lake Garda’s middle and upper areas, proposing subscriptions to military magazines.

These individuals are not actual soldiers but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have no connection to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the true carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
