Lake Garda Tourism Sees Strong Season, Approaching 1999 Records

A great tourist season according to Giuseppe Lorenzini, president of the Unione gardesana albergatori veronesi (Ugav), the association comprising over three hundred accommodations along the Riviera degli Olivi.

While awaiting the official tourism data for Lake Garda through September (still being processed by the Azienda di promozione turistica numero 12), it becomes interesting to hear an initial assessment from the voice of the leading representative of the most important lakeside trade association.

The season’s report

“It went very well until early October, with the last days around September and October supported by the marble fair.

Moreover, many Germans took advantage of the long holiday for German reunification to return to the Benàco.

Unfortunately, rain and bad weather hastened the departure of foreign visitors, and more than one reservation was canceled.

In practice, we lost the entire month.

However, this should not make us forget what was gathered previously, so much so that, in the final accounts, I believe we will end the year with the already record results of 1999, which closed with eight million two hundred thousand overnight stays.
