Lake Garda Water Quality Clears After Inspection, Beaches Reopen

There was great impatience to finally hoist the blue flag around the entire perimeter of Garda, a mark in environmental terms that denotes free beaches for bathing. The water quality checks at the three locations in Desenzano, which since the start of the tourist season had been found contaminated and thus unsuitable for bathing, were carried out early: as expected and predicted, they yielded a favorable outcome. Those three single black spots, all in the province of Brescia and marring the image of Lake Garda (Benaco), have now been eradicated. Everyone hopes it will be so forever.

Results and consequences of the inspections

As we anticipated yesterday, this is a prestigious and long-sought record for the lake dear to Virgil. At all 125 sampling points, the samples and checks carried out by the respective local health authorities demonstrated that the water quality has proven safe for bathers.
