Lakes Fair 2023 Promotes Lake Tourism and Regional Collaboration
The Fifth Edition of the Lakes Fair
The Lakes Fair is back, now in its fifth edition. The tourism workshop, created to promote lake tourism and enhance the Italian lakes heritage, is scheduled for Friday, October 19, and Saturday, October 20, in the stunning setting of Villa Tassinara, in Rivoltella.
For two days, the small town on Lake Garda will host around forty foreign tour operators, selected and curated by Enit, hailing from nine countries (Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, France, and Sweden). They will have the opportunity to meet representatives of the Italian lake tourism industry (trade associations, promotion consortia, hotelier unions, owners of accommodation, sports, and service facilities) with the goal of defining joint strategies for enhancing and marketing the “lake product.”
Educational Tour and Data on Lake Tourism
Alongside the workshop, a two-day educational tour will take place—from Saturday to Sunday—covering Lake Garda and Lake Iseo, involving all the foreign operators invited to the Desenzano Fair.
Italy’s lakes rank among the top in the country for visitor numbers, after art cities and the Adriatic Riviera. They tally approximately 18 million tourist presences annually, generating an estimated turnover of around 5 trillion euros.
Undoubtedly, Lake Garda dominates the scene, leading the Italian ranking with coastlines on Trentino, Veneto, and Lombardy. This reality has been compelled to evolve and establish a dedicated exchange forum—a genuine business tourism fair.
Origin and Objectives of the Lakes Fair
It was born five years ago, thanks to Pro-Brixia, the special company of the Brescia Chamber of Commerce, which launched the Italy Lakes Fair. The format chosen is that of a workshop reserved for industry professionals, offering a negotiation space between demand and supply operators.
Furthermore, the Desenzano event looks beyond immediate interests. It aims to be a growth opportunity for the tourism potential of neighboring towns and inland areas, which—artistically, culturally, and environmentally—can complete a vacation centered around the lake as a main hub and reference point.
Development of the Garda Inland and Tourism Proposals
Certainly, significant space could be allocated to the Garda inland, which in recent times has showcased extraordinary artistic and cultural treasures. Think of the treasures emerging at Rocca di Manerba and the church of Sant’Emiliano in Padenghe.
Not to mention the wide range of offerings the lake can provide: from sports facilities (golf, riding stables, sailing clubs) to health and thermal centers, from cultural itineraries to wine and food tours.
