Lakeside Redevelopment Advances with Fountains and Promenade in City Center
Even the eight fountains have been installed, and the new lakeside promenade is beginning to take shape, at least for the first 200 meters of the entire project, drafted by architetto Pier Giuseppe Ramella. The project involves the complete redesign of the most scenic area of the city center, with a budget of approximately eight billion lire.
The first phase of the work, from the Ponte della Veneziana to the Park Hotel (about 1.2 billion lire), is proceeding on schedule and without setbacks. The next steps include paving with colored porphyry and the landscaping of green areas.
Status of the Works and Future Interventions
The new walkway area has been significantly widened. “By the end of April, the intervention will be completed,” says public works councilor Tommaso Giardino, “and with the installation of the fountains, the play of light and water that will be created will contribute to making the lakeside especially evocative, like a joyful landmark and meeting point.”
New wooden benches will be installed, the lighting system will be renewed, and additional plants will be planted. However, criticism continues, as in recent days lawyer Paolo Zenoglio, on behalf of a sizable group of citizens, submitted a formal notice to the Comune to halt the work.
