An exhibition dedicated to the memorial for the victims of the Lampedusa shipwreck will open on Tuesday, January 21, at 6 PM at the Galleria di Palazzo Martinengo delle Palle in Brescia. Titled “A Constellation on Earth,” the exhibition is promoted by the Brescian Stone District and the Rotary Club Valle Sabbia Centenario, and curated by Comm. Prof. Nicola Bianco Speroni. Through photographs, artifacts, and videos, the exhibition aims to reflect on the tragedy that occurred on October 3, 2013, when 368 migrants lost their lives in an attempt to reach Europe. This event marked a shift in the perception of shipwrecks in the Mediterranean, with over 32,000 people having died since then.

The exhibition will be open until February 16 and will include a lecture by architect Vincenzo Latina, the designer of the environmental redevelopment project for the memorial. His work not only commemorates the victims but also creates a public space for the community, fostering dialogue on issues such as human rights and the value of life in a globalized context. With the patronage of various local and cultural institutions, this initiative represents an important opportunity to reflect on the challenges related to immigration and collective memory through art and culture.
