Lavagnone Excavations in Desenzano Return for 2026 With Free Guided Tours
Open excavation visits at the Lavagnone site in Desenzano return on Tuesday, 21 July from 9:00, offering direct access to the UNESCO-recognised pile-dwelling village area along Via Lavagnone. Guided tours of the excavation will be led by Prof. Marta Rapi, director of the dig and scientific lead for the Department of Cultural and Environmental Heritage at the University of Milan.
The event is promoted by the Municipality of Desenzano, the “Giovanni Rambotti” Archaeological Museum, and the Prehistoric Pile-Dwelling Site of the Alpine Arc, in collaboration with the University of Milan and La Melagrana. Participation is free, but places are limited and booking is required through the organisers.
