In Lazise, the Gardaland team collected about 20 kg of waste along the shores of Lake Garda as part of the 24h Global Clean-Up 2026, an international mobilisation promoted by SEA LIFE Trust to protect aquatic ecosystems. Around 30 resort staff and participants took part in the activity.
The clean-up involved employees from different Gardaland areas working on the lakefront. Among the materials gathered were plastic, bottles, bottle caps, packaging and cigarette butts, along with some more unusual items. The 2026 results, totalling roughly 20 kg, will be compiled and processed for the annual 24h Global Clean-Up report, which will provide a picture of the materials found by SEA LIFE teams in various locations worldwide.
This is Gardaland SEA LIFE Aquarium’s sixth consecutive year participating in the initiative. During the event, Sabrina Repetto, Senior Curator at Gardaland SEA LIFE Aquarium, led a field lesson explaining how abandoned waste can persist in the environment, reach the lake via waterways and eventually make its way to the sea, with impacts on ecosystems and the animals that live in them. The clean-up also included Silvia Modena, an assessor for the Municipality of Lazise with responsibilities including environment and waste, who described the initiative as a concrete opportunity to promote environmental protection and care for the local area. The global data for the 2026 edition will be released shortly.
