On Monday, January 6th, in celebration of the Epiphany, Lazise is gearing up to celebrate the Befana Festival with a highly anticipated traditional event: the Befana’s Greased Pole Contest. Starting at 2:30 PM, a group of brave participants, including several women, will attempt to reach the magical broom positioned at the top of a tall pole set up at the old port, in the area of Dogana Veneta. The challenge promises to be tough, especially considering the winter temperatures that will make accessing the coveted prize even more difficult.
This event represents a moment of great community gathering for locals and visitors alike, who are eager to cheer on the competitors in this exciting challenge.
