Lazise Gets Temporary Carabinieri Station for Summer Vigilance Efforts

The carabinieri are returning. As part of the summer vigilance services enhancement plan, the Verona Provincial Carabinieri Command has approved the establishment of a temporary station.

Similar to previous years, the Municipal Administration has provided the building of the former elementary schools on Via Roma. Therefore, from June 1st to September 30th, an operational station will be active in every respect.

The need to have a temporary arm station on site, especially during the summer period, is felt not only by the local economic operators of Lazise but also by the residents, who are in almost daily contact with issues related to micro-crime.

This led to the request and interest of Assessor Fabio Marinoni, who last April contacted Captain Ernesto Petrillo, commander of the Peschiera Company, and agreed on the free loan of the former school building.

“A fully staffed station,” clarified the commander of the Company, “capable of meeting the expectations and needs of residents and tourists.”

Outside the summer period, jurisdiction over the Lazise area is exercised by the Pastrengo station carabinieri. It is therefore likely that the young Marshal Battaglia will once again lead the Lazise temporary station.

Meanwhile, there is great anticipation for the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Carabinieri Arm Section, scheduled for Sunday in Lazise. The section president, Plinio Marchesini, has prepared an extensive program for the day.

Program of the ceremony and celebrations

To welcome the retired carabinieri, a uniformed honor guard will be present, and the entire town will be decorated with the tricolor flag.

Here is the schedule for the day: at 9:30 am, gathering of the carabinieri and guest sections in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele; at 10 am, the Castelnuovo del Garda band will be introduced to the citizens; at 10:45 am, the parade will begin, led by the band, with a tour of the historic center and arriving at the parish church, where at 11 am, Don Edoardo Sacchella will perform the sacred rite.

At 11:45 am, there will be the flag-raising ceremony on the old port pennant pole, and at 12 pm, homage will be paid to the fallen with the laying of a laurel wreath at the monument facing the Venetian customs building.

Finally, at 1 pm, a social lunch will be held at a well-known restaurant in the lake town.
